As already known Ozone is an unstable gas composed of trivalent Oxygen (O3) which in nature is formed in the atmosphere by the irradiation of UV sunlight or by electrical discharges that occur during thunderstorms. Its high oxidizing power and the natural tendency to convert back to oxygen make it a product with high potential for use in various production processes and to reduce the microbiological risk. Low concentrations and short contact times are sufficient to destroy and inactivate bacteria, molds, yeasts, parasites and viruses present in the air and on surfaces.
In 1982 ozone was recognized as a safe gas for food use by the US FDA (Food and drug Administration) and, starting from 2001, FDA allow the use of ozone both in the gaseous phase and dissolved in water as an antimicrobial agent for the treatment of food products for human consumption.

The air in an environment after treatment with Ozone is free of bacteria, viruses, pollution, smells. But still has ozone levels that are not compatible with the presence of people.
